Emotional Intelligence is the ability to deal with our emotions and the emotions of others, which gives us the potential to create more mature and wholesome circumstances for everyone involved.

Emotional Intelligence: A Relatable Story 

Once upon a time, there was this beautiful princess known for her beauty, grace and intelligence far and wide. When it was time for her to get married she had three proposals from the best Kingdoms around. 

Understand Emotional Intelligence before you regret

The first of these was a prince who was intelligent and was known for his knowledge and wit. He had quickly learnt how a state should be run effectively. The second was sharp at understanding finances. His treasure was said to be ever-growing. The third prince had gained expertise in warfare. He had the skill to avoid, encounter and overthrow kingdoms in the most impossible situations.

All the three proposals being extraordinary, the princess was in a dilemma. Whom do you think she finally chose? Take a moment, pause to make a guess.

The princess finally got married to the prince that she felt most closely emotionally bonded with. Don’t we do the same thing a lot of the time? We have reasons, parameters, criteria for decision-making and yet sometimes in the moment of truth we even go against logic and let our emotions choose. 

Now, I’m not advocating that we make decisions based on emotions all the time but understanding the realm of emotions, its working and influence on our life in general and on the life of others is quite essential to take conscious and mature actions, do you see?

Why is emotional intelligence so essential?

In the last few decades, a lot of focus has been shifted from developing the mental plane alone and has developed stress, anxiety and depression in our body. This leads to chaos we have created for ourselves. Paying equal attention to the emotional plane as well… meaning developing your emotional intelligence for a broader experience of life.

 The ability to deal with our emotions and with other people's emotions gives us the power to create more mature and wholesome situations for everyone involved.
